Carlisle Suffolk In Lamb Sale

The Annual Suffolk In Lamb Sale was held at Carlisle on Friday and saw a top price of 850gns for the 2nd prize shearling gimmer. James Cannon’s Redbrae flock was responsible for this gimmer sired by Strathbogie Samurai and out of a homebred ewe. She sold in lamb to Burnview Beefeater and was purchased by Messrs Grice from Darlington.

A 2016 born ewe from Pamela Lupton sold for the next best price of 820gns. This was Kexbeck L00345 sired by Rhaeadr Reggae I and in lamb to Perrinpit Game Set and Match. The successful bidder on this ewe was Messrs Fitton from Burnley, Lancashire.

Pamela also sold a gimmer at 600gns to Messrs Brough from Cockermouth. This gimmer was sired by Drimmie Drama and scanned in lamb to Rhaeadr Jet Set.

At 800gns was Conchar 01167, a shearling gimmer from Paula and David Reid. She was sired by Solwaybank Spudulike, out of a homebred ewe and sold in lamb to Rookery Rashford. Messrs Drummond from Mauchline, Ayrshire was the successful purchaser and also purchased the 3rd prize winning ewe from the Conchar flock at 650gns, who was again sired by Spudulike.

James Cannon’s 3rd prize gimmer, sired by Strathbogie Samurai, sold for 620gns. She was also in lamb to the flock’s stock ram Burnview Beefeater and purchased by Messrs Taylor from Kelso. James also sold another bred the same way for 600gns to Messrs Powley from Penrith.
