On Wednesday 11th December Harrison & Hetherington Limited held their weekly sale of calves. A smaller show of 208 calves forward with the best quality continental calves continue to sell well although the younger plainer types would be easier on the week. Top price was £455 for a strong British Blue bull from Messrs Fisher, Smalmstown. A smaller show of black and whites saw the best Friesian and strong black and whites in great demand topping at £200 for a Friesian from Messrs Reed, Croft House, Great Orton, Carlisle. Next week 18th December will be the last Calf sale of the year and sales will resume on 8th January 2020.
