Continental In Lamb Sheep Sale

Borderway, Rosehill, Carlisle, CA1 2RS

On Friday 13th December, Harrison & Hetherington Limited, Carlisle held their annual continental in-lamb sheep fair.

Topping overall was an in-lamb Dutch Spotted gimmer from Messrs Smyth, Appleby that was purchased by Messrs Jackson from Whitby. Messrs Smyth also sold another at 1100gns and a further two at 1000gns to average £1071 for his five Dutch Spotted animals forward.

The consignment from W & C Ingram’s Logie Durno flock topped at 950gns for a registered Texel, in lamb to an Artnagullion ram, that was purchased by Messrs Jack from Muir of Ord, Rosshire. Messrs Jack also purchased another from this consignment at 850gns.

Dutch Texels sold to a top of 750gns for a gimmer from Messrs Whiteford, Tercrosset that was in lamb to the Beltex sire Ardstewart Coyote. This gimmer was purchased by Ellis Bros from Ilkley, West Yorkshire.

Jack Whiteford’s consignment of black Beltex x Texels sold to 750gns and 700gns for two gimmers both in lamb to Ardstewart Coyote and purchased by Messrs Jordan from Armathwaite.

Edward Pugh’s Glanllyn Texel flock sold a Clinterty Yogi Bear sired gimmer for 600gns. She had been scanned in lamb to Plasucha Big Gun and was purchased over the phone by Messrs Sherratt from Shropshire.

Of the other breeds included Rough and Zwartbles both sold to a top of 450gns, a Millennium Bleu gimmer went for 400gns and a 2013 born Charollais ewe sold for 260gns.
