NSA Blue Texel Sale

On Monday 23^rd September the Blue Texel Society held their Show & Sale at NSA Builth Ram Sale, through Harrison and Hetherington Ltd.

The pre sale show took place, and was capably judged by Mr Rhys Francis, he awarded the Overall Champion to the first prize ram lamb consigned by Nina Smith. This stylish lamb was a substitute on the day, sired by Betws Blues Bethoven, out of an imported Turbo Blue ewe, and sold to the top price of 2200gns going to the Westwood flock.

Next top call was a shearling ram from Tippetts & Williams of the Hackney flock. Sired by Hackney X-Factor out of a Pistyll Kees daughter. This ram was knocked down for 1100gns to Mr Harraway, Somerset.

Shearling rams still very much in demand with the 2^nd prize shearling Fanny Hill Cockpit, from Matthew Holmberg, Denbigh selling to 900gns for a Bluestone son out of Hengoed Yellow Lily, going to Messrs Williams, Mid Glamorgan.

At £820 was a shearling ram from Lauren Davies, Honddu flock with Celyn Colerado. Winning Reserve Male Champion and bred by Mr D Thomas, he was sired by a Turbo Blue Welsh Boy son out of a Celyn bred ewe. He was sold to Messrs Evans, Llanrwst, Gwynedd.

Ewe lambs topped the female trade at 800gns from Rhys Cooke of the Nantyderri flock, with Nantyderri Delia. A powerful daughter of Derg Churchill out of a homebred ewe. This second prize lamb also won Reserve Female Champion and sold to an Undisclosed purchaser.
