Kelso Crackers Texel Sale

The Gordon Brooke Estate’s Mershott flock took the top price at the Kelso Crackers in-lamb sale, Carlisle, when selling a gimmer at 3500gns.

Sale topper, BOK1806764, is a daughter of thr £23,000 Midlock Youre The One and out of a Brackenridge Strongbow daughter. This one sold in-lamb to Canllefaes Bright Spark and sold to Ken Hodge, Cheshire, who bought her full brother at Kelso this autumn for £8500.

Next in the roll call which saw an 86% clearance rates was one at 2500gns from Michael James’ Duhonw flock, JMU1806403, a Strathbogie Yamaha daughter out of a dam by Meinspride Usain and in-lamb to Garngour Awesome. Taking this one were Messrs Dent, Bishop Auckland, Co Durham.

And then at 2200gns was one from John Elliot’s Roxburgh pen, EJR1803752. Sired by Duhonw You’re the One, she is out of a dam by Kimbolton Va Va Voom and was sold served by Cannlefaes Bright Spark. This was another bought by Ken Hodge.

A 1900gns call then took the best from the Haymout flock of the Arnott family, this was AWJ1801576, a Milnbank Awesome daughter out of a dam by Kidston Tyson. Selling in-lamb to the Lanark purchase Usk Vale Crackerjack, she was knocked down to Messrs Douglas, Yarrow, Selkirk.

Taking an 1800gns call was another from the Mershott pen, BOK1806826. Sired by Midlock Youre The One she’s out of a dam by Hightecs Unbeatable and sold in-lamb to Canllefaes Bright Spark. Taking her home were Messrs Smith and Son, Alford, Aberdeenshire.

Three then sold at 1600gns, with the first being another bought by Ken Hodge, this time from the Roxburgh pen of John Elliot. This one, EJR180937, is again by Midlock Youre The One and out of a Kimbolton Va Va Voom-sired dam. She was also in-lamb to Canllefaes Bright Spark.

Second to make this money was a Strathbogie Yamaha daughter out of a Meinspride Usain-sired dam from Michael James. This was JMU1806413, a gimmer sold in-lamb Garngour Awesome and bought by Messrs Brute, Brecon.

And another from the same home then took the final 1600gns call, with this being JMU1806417. She’s again by Strathbogie Yamaha and out of a Meinspride Usain daughter. This one was again in-lamb to Garngour Awesome and found a new home with Messrs Fox and Sons, Elvington, N Yorks.

Then trading at 1500gns was the best of the day from Messrs Green’s Greenall pen, GXF1800876. This ET-bred daughter of Ettrick Arrowhead is out of a Teiglum Utah daughter and was offered in-lamb to Stonedge Catch The Stars. This one was bought by Messrs Turkington, Lilliesleaf, Melrose.
