The Aberdeen Angus Cattle Society’s annual autumn show and sale at Carlisle saw a top price of 4000gns attained twice.
The Overall Championship was won by Wensleydale Esquire U110 from CD Timm’s herd. This bull was sired by Blelack Ensign, a son of 32,000gns Bleleck Eyrie, and out of Wensleydale Elba Izzy. He was purchased by Messrs Sharpe from Workington for 4000gns.
Also at 4000gns was the 3rd prize winning bull Crook Hill Black Bart U021 from Dr William & Mrs Margaret Taylor. Bart was sired by Oakchurch Duster and out of Crook Hill Blackbird and was purchased on the day by Messrs Galloway, Biggar, Lanarkshire.
At 3900gns was the bull that split these two in the judging, the 2nd prize winning Thrunton Principle U163, sired by Gretnahouse Blackpot. Consigned by JHC Campbell & Sons this bull was out of Thrunton Pirouette and went on to be purchased by Framhill Farms, Bamburgh, Northumberland.
Winning the Reserve Overall Champion ticket was Kilmaluag Jiggerypokery Eric T222 from Donald Rankin. The bull, sired by Retties Euromillions and out of Mosston Muir Josephine Erica, sold for 3400gns to Messrs Kunz from Arthington, West Yorkshire.
The retiral sale from Alan & Lorna Jackson’s Rugley herd achieved a top price of 2020gns for the 2016 born cow, Rugley Geraldine, with her heifer calf at foot Rugley Gracie. Geraldine was sired by the herd’s previous stock bull Blackhaugh Ribmaker and her calf Gracie is by Linton Gilbertines Esso.
