Trade peaked at 14,000gns at Friday’s Twilight Texels Sale, Carlisle, when a gimmer from Robert Bennett’s Plasucha flock set the trade alight.
This one, BFE1808057, a Mullan Awesome daughter out of a dam by Eden Valley Wiz Kid. Described as one of the best gimmers offered from Plasucha, this one sold with two recipients carrying embryos from her and in-lamb to the homebred Plasucha All Star. She was bought by Jeremy Theyer, Cheltenham, with an index in the top 25% of the breed.
Second best of the evening was a 7000gns call for another from the same home, BFE1909266, an April-born ewe lamb by the homebred Plasucha Baller and out of a dam by Brackenridge Young Gun. She is another with an index in the top 25% and sold to Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn, Ayshire.
Then at 4000gns was another ewe lamb, this time from the Wilkinson family’s Arkle flock, WGA1905775. This ET-bred Silvermere Baltic daughter is out ofg a dam by Whitehart Wanted and was unbeaten in the show-ring this year. Buying her was Leigh Smith, Whitehaven, Cumbria.
Trading at 3200gns was another from Plasucha, BFE1808024, a gimmer by Plasucha All Star and out of a dam by Kelso Wiseman. She is an ET sister to the 32,000gns Plasucha Big Gun and sold with an index in the top 25% of the breed. In-lamb to Teiglum Braveheart she was knocked down to Messrs Shiels, Co Donegal, Eire.
Three then followed her at 2000gns, with the first being another from Robert Bennett in the form of a ewe lamb, BFE1909272. Sired by Mullan Awesome, she is out of an Eden Valley Wiz Kid dam and was bought by Messrs Alderson, Barrowford, Lancashire.
Next at this price was a gimmer from George Wilkinson’s Ellen Valley flock which sold to Messrs Bennett, Merseyside. This was YGW1805268, a Strawfrank Alphonso daughter out of a dam by Clantiblues Unicorn and in-lamb to Alderview Corona. She sold with a recipient carrying an embryo.
And the final 2000gns call came when Richard Wilson sold a gimmer from the Eden Valley pen, WEV1801148. By the homebred Eden Valley A1 and out of a Milnbank-bred dam by Teiglum Tornado she sold in-lamb to Knock Yankee and was the choice of Messrs Hudson, Ivegill, Cumbria.
