The dispersal sale of Mr D & Mrs R Cornthwaite’s Maybe Limousin herd was held at Borderway on Friday 4th October along with consignments of heifers from the Beeches herd on behalf of DJ & SM Thomlinson and the Impulsive herd on behalf of Steven Wilson.
Topping the sale was the Maybe herd’s stock bull Lowflan Lee who sold for 6500gns. Lee, bred by Ian Wilson and Carol Wood, was purchased in October 2016 and has proven to be a consistent breeder for the herd. This bull was sired by Gunnerfleet Eros and out of the Sympa daughter Lowflan Harmony. He was purchased by Herries Farms, Dumfries.
At 5000gns was a son of Lowflan Lee, Maybe Obladioblada. This young bull was out of Maybe Letitbe, a Norman Graham daughter who had sold earlier in the sale for 2000gns. Obladioblada was heading back to Lockerbie when he was purchased by Messrs Halliday from Tundergarth.
Maybe Oasis was the highest priced female to sell on the day going for 4400gns to Messrs Ewing, Annan. Oasis, an October 2018 born heifer, was again sired by Lowflan Lee and this time out of Maybe Microcosm.
Another young bull, Maybe Organic, sold for 3600gns. He was sired by Asheburn Intrepid and out of Maybe Biological. This successful bidder on this occasion was Messrs Bowness from Penrith.
At 3500gns was the last from the Maybe herd to go through the ring, Maybe Oboe. Again by Lowflan Lee, this bull was out of Maybe Jaleika who had sold for 2800gns earlier in the sale along with her 2019 born calf at foot.
Steven Wilson’s Impulsive herd sold to a top of 3000gns for his first heifer forward Impulsive Nicole. A November 2017 born heifer, Nicole was sired by Loosebeare Justin and out of Gunnerfleet Hannah. She was purchased by Messrs Wilson from Wreay, Carlisle.
Impulsive Orna sold for 2200gns, another heifer by Loosebeare Justin she was out of Pointhouse Jane. The successful purchaser was Messrs Priestley from Brampton, Cumbria.
The Beeches herd sold three heifers at 1100gns. This first of these was Beeches Mylene, a 2016 born heifer. Mylene was sired by Harveys Ferrari and out of Cowranside Vicky. She was purchased by Messrs Wood & Sons from Shrewsbury.
Following this into the ring was Beeches Mocha, sired by Beeches Jacob and out of Beeches Chelsea. Mocha was purchased by Messrs Swarbrick from Grange Over Sands.
The final to sell at 1100gns was Beeches Nadia, sired by Broadoak Galahad. Nadia was out of Shieldrigg Baran and purchased by Messrs Kirkbride from Maryport.
