Borderway Store & Weanling Cattle Sale

At Borderway Mart on Wednesday 11^th March, Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly Wednesday cattle sales, which had an entry of over 1000 cattle forward. Comprising of a catalogued entry of 454 Stores, 311 Weaned cattle and 329 Calves.

STORE CATTLE – Quality was mixed throughout the sale with fewer forward and better types selling well to another large buying contingent.  Bullocks sold to £1285 for a dairy bred British Blue shown by Messrs Crowther, West Trailtrow, Lockerbie with plenty of these types breaking the £1100 barrier and beyond. Limousin bullocks weren’t far behind at £1270 for a great sort from Messrs Slack, Newby, Carlisle. Heifers sold to £1160 for a cracking pair of Limousins from Messrs Stagg, Longrow, Canonbie with Limousin x Charolais selling to £1155 both leading the consignment from Messrs Graham, Carleton Hill Farm, Carlisle.

WEANED CATTLE: A smaller show of 311 stirks were forward, to a good ringside of buyers ensuring a good trade throughout.

Messrs Kenneth Hall, Baggrah Farm sold two outstanding 9-10 month old for bulls £1500 for a British Blue, and to £1120 for a Limousin. Messrs Pattinson, Bonshawside run of Limousins bulls topped at £1010 for a 10 month old. Messrs Hodgson, Park House Farm sold a Limousin x bull for £1000.

 

Messrs Faulder, Amazone House run of cattle topped at £1060 for an 11 month old bullock and to £900 for an 11 month old Limosuin heifer. Messrs Clegg & Bennett, Tongue House run of cattle topped at £950 for two 10 month old Limosuin bullocks.
