The Annual Spring Sale of Hereford cattle was held as an Online Timed Auction running between Friday 15th May and Tuesday 19th May.
Topping the sale at £2800 was G & MC Shepherd’s Moorside 1 Seize-the-day a September 2018 born ET bull sired by Moorside 1 Joseph. His dam Moorside 1 Jane 3rd sold for 5000gns and his granddam, Romany 1 Jane was a previous Cow of the Year winner. Seize-the-day was purchased by Messrs Brown from Berwickshire.

The other bull to sell also came from Messrs Shepherd and had been the Moorside herd’s stock bull for the past 2 years. Hoghton View 1 Gold Mine was originally bred by S & E Walker and only for sale again now because his own daughters are now joining the herd. Gold Mine, sired by Moeskaer Patriarch and out of Barwise 1 Amazing Grace, was purchased for £1800 by Messrs Anderson from Newcastle Upon Tyne.
The only female entered sold for £1600, this was Moorside 1 Sapphire also from Messrs Shepherd. Sapphire was sired by the Hoghton View 1 Goldmine and out of Moorside 1 Staminette. She was also purchased by Messrs Brown, Berwickshire.
