Retiral Sale of the Rugley Suffolk Flock

A retiral sale from Alan and Lorna Jackson's Rugley Suffolk flock took place at Carlisle on Friday and saw an outstanding trade for the 68 animals forward with 19 selling for 1000gns or more and the 65 gimmers averaging £959.86.

The sale topped at 2600gns for the gimmer 10P:19:09027 sired by the high indexed Midhope Alfie and out of 15:05100. This gimmer was sold in lamb to the flock’s stock ram Sitlow All Gold and purchased by Messrs Elliot from Kelso.

Messrs Elliot also purchased the next best gimmer at 2400gns. This was 19:09133 sired by Sitlow All Gold, out of 16:06357 and in lamb to Midhope Alfie.

At 2000gns was another Sitlow All Gold daughter 19:09117, she was out of 16:06357 and again had been scanned in lamb to Midhope Alfie. The successful purchaser of this lot was Messrs Thomson from Kelso who also bought another gimmer near the end of the sale, 19:09161, for 1700gns.

Messrs Taylor from Reading, Berkshire made the long journey worthwhile when they went home with lot 15 for 1800gns. This was 19:09013, a Midhope Alfie daughter out of 16:06232 and in lamb to Sitlow All Gold.  The also purchased a further two lots at 1400gns and 1300gns respectively.

Messrs Elliot from Kelso again added to their flock when purchasing another daughter of Sitlow All Gold, 19:09134, at 1700gns.

The gimmer 19:09165 sold for 1450gns to Messrs Watson from Sandwith, Whitehaven. This lot was sired by Rugley Terrific, out of 13:198 and had been scanned in lamb to Sitlow All Gold.
