The second annual Badger Face Texel Sheep Society in lamb sale was held at Carlisle on Friday where a top price of 6000gns was achieved for the first shearling gimmer into the ring.
This was an imported gimmer consigned by Angharad Francis’ Pistyll flock. She sold scanned in lamb to Sunnybank Ace of Spades and was purchased by Messrs Brown & Mason from Clapham, Lancaster.
Stuart Wood sold in the next best priced animal in the form of Woodies Abbi at 3000gns, a gimmer sired by the Holland Champion ram 944. She was in lamb to the imported Powerful Tornado who has previously sired gimmers to 2800gns. The successful bidder on this occasion was Messrs Bateman from Kendal.
Following closely behind this at 2800gns was another gimmer consigned by Stuart Wood, this time an import but again in lamb to Powerful Tornado. She was off to Wales when purchased by Messrs Hayward from Dinas, Powys.
Clive Richardson sold Cleenagh Apple Candy for 2500gns, sired by Hugo Boss this gimmer had been scanned in lamb to Cleenagh Paddy Power. She bought be Messrs Rowlands, Rhayader, Powys.
Clive’s other gimmer on offer was purchased online for 2200gns by Messrs McKenzie from Co Tyrone. This was Cleenagh Ali Babba who was also sired by Hugo Boss and this time in lamb to Cleenagh Bodybuilder.
