Harrison & Hetherington had an entry of 1138 cattle at their weekly sale comprising of a catalogued entry of 430 Store Cattle, 180 Un-entered store bulls and weanlings, 320 Calves and 208 Dairy cattle in the Monthly Borderway Dairy Day

STORE CATTLE – At the weekly sale of 430 store cattle a plainer offering on the whole was forward with trade seeing a slight dip on the week, however still way ahead of competitors return.  An amazing 104 cattle sold from £1298 to £1640.  The sale topped at £1640 for a cracking forward bullock from new vendors Messrs Mitchell, Grassknop, Penrith.  Heifers to £1610 from another first time vendor, Penny Stamper, Rose Farm, Cockermouth.  Native cattle sold to £1425 for a pair of Angus bullocks from Messrs Hunter, Stoneraise, Wigton. Dairy bullocks to £1360 for Holstein from TB Stamper & Son, Rose Farm, Cockermouth.

WEANED CATTLE : A good entry of 180 weanlings were on offer with bulls again being in a great demand.  Messrs Norman, Little Orton Farm sold 10 Limousin bulls to average £1224 and topped at £1380 (x2) and £1250 (x2).  Messrs Graham & Sons, Barnglies bulls topped at £1220 for an Angus and £1210 for a Hereford x.  Messrs Henshall, Sarkshield Farm, sold 3 Limousin Heifers for £1130.
