On Thursday 5th August at Lazonby Mart, Harrison & Hetherington held their opening sale of store lambs, which drew a marvellous entry of 2113 head, the largest seen at this fixture.
All classes of sheep from long term to forward keep lambs with a larger entry of Mules were represented in an overall sale average of £74.50, some £9 up on last year.
Beltex lambs lead the way at £122 twice form Messrs Little, The Guards, Ireby who sold 20 to average £118.80.
Texel lambs to £121 from Messrs Faulder, Ewan Close who sold others to £109.
Suffolks sold to £89 from MJ & SE Watt, Field Garth.
695 Mule lambs sold to average £71.02 and to a top of £78 from Messrs Natress, Shield Hilltop. The largest pen of the day of 84 were consigned from GA & DE Thompson, Howburn selling to £77.50.
