“Kaiser takes the Chief Spot At Borderway”
The 33rd Annual Autumn Border & Lakeland Bull sale once again proved that it is the No. 1 event in the UK for dairy farmers to select super sires all bred from impeccable pedigrees with outstanding longevity and impressive production. Trade topped at 5,500gns with 50% of the bulls selling for or more than £3000 with the overall average coming to £3014 with only four bulls unsold.
The pre sale show was sponsored by Dugdale Nutrition and was judged by Stewart Braid owner of the Murithat herd. He tapped out Warnelview Kaiser as his Champion Bull selling for 4,200gns to the Hunter family from Berrier head Farm near Penrith. Kaiser was consigned by the Wilson family from Wood Farm near Carlisle, he was sired by Lindenright Apps and was bred from a prolific line of the Kimo cow family.

Winning the Bell Trophy and the Overall British Friesian Championship was Nerewater Jack Impress who was the overall Reserve Champion. He was consigned by Richard Bell from near Wigton, he was a son of Nerewater Jackpot, his first two dams classified Excellent both with massive production. He sold for the top price of the day going to Mr Chapplehow in Kirby Stephen for 5,500gns.

Selling for 4,800gns from the same stud was Nerewater Jupiter Physique who was purchased by Stewart Adams from near Stranraer. He was sired by Kirby Jupiter and bred from the Phyllis cow family with his first two dams all classified Excellent.
The Production Champion went to Wanelview Rickery selling for 5,400gns to the Meredith family in Aberdeenshire. Bred from the best line of the highly valued Ruby cow family, his first five dams were all Excellent and all had massive lifetime production. His grand dam was the Former Number 1 PLI Cow in the breed Warnelview Goldwyn Ruby EX94. A Sandy-Valley Challenger sister to this impressive bull sold for 8,000gns last week in the Warnelview Production Sale.
The Winnoch herd owned by the Brocket family sold seven bulls to average over £3,400 and topped twice at 4,200gns for Winnoch Leduc and Winnoch Levi. Both of these bulls were sired by Goonhilly Perran and bred from successful cow families with high butterfat and protein production.
One of the youngest bulls in the sale was Warnelview Navigator who sold for 4,000gns to Mr Wilson from Southview Farm near Penrith. He was a grandson of Warnelview Final Cut Nita EX97 and sired by Richmond Mogul Luis, his dam was an Excellent R-E-W Seaver daughter.
