The 34th Annual Autumn Border & Lakeland Bull sale once again proved that it is the No. 1 event in the UK for dairy farmers to select super sires all bred from impeccable pedigrees with outstanding longevity and impressive production. Trade topped at 6,000gns on three occasions with the overall average coming to £3508 with only three bulls unsold.
The pre sale show was sponsored by Dugdale Nutrition and was judged by Paul Harrison owner of the Chishillways herd. He tapped out Warnelview Navara as his Champion Bull selling for 4,200gns to Mr Nixon from Ribton House, Workington. Navara was consigned by the Wilson family from Wood Farm near Carlisle, he was sired by Claynook Barolo and was bred from the herd icon Warnelview Final Cut Nita EX97 who has bred no less than 11 Excellent classified daughters to date.

Winning the Bell Trophy and the Overall British Friesian Championship was Winnoch Medalist who was consigned by Ian Brocket from near Glasgow. He was a son of Beaufort Kabana and bred from a very productive British Friesian dam with lactations over 9000kgs at 4.7% butterfat and 3.53% protein. This powerful framed bull sold for the joint top price of the day going to Mr Neil from Thornington Farm in Northumberland for 6,000gns. Seven bulls sold from the Winnoch herd to average £4140 including the class winner, Winnoch Missouri who sold for 5,000gns to Mr Mercer from Willows Farm in Lancashire.
The Production Champion went to Warnelview Revive selling for 6,000gns to Mr Allen in Shropshire. Bred from the best line of the highly valued Ruby cow family, his first six dams were all highly scored Excellent cows and all had massive lifetime production with 5% butterfat and 3.6% protein. He was sired by Helix from a EX94 1stClass dam with his full brother, Warnelview Root also selling for 6,000gns to the Paterson family near Maybole in Ayrshire. A third full brother Warnelview Railroad sold for 4,800gns to Mr Dickinson from Penrith with a further eight Warnelview bred bulls averaging over £4000.
The youngest bulls in the sale was Feizor Deliberate who sold for 5,800gns to H. Roper from Lymehouse Farm in Lancashire. He was sired by Delta-Lambda and bred from a UK icon Feizor Shottle Delia EX96 who continues to be a star within the Feizor herd at 17 years old. To date she has produced over 180 ton of milk and was the Genus Long Life Cow Winner in 2018.
Andrew Carter owner of the Gerrard Holstein herd near Wigton had a special consignment of bulls forward to average £4095 and topped with the Reserve Champion Gerrard Adam who sold for 4,600gns. He was sired by Stantons Adorable and was bred from a Grafeeti dam with super high production and incredible butterfat yields. He was purchased by Mr Greer in Fife.
