On Wednesday 15^th January Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of Calves. Another fantastic show of 472 calves forward. Trade continued strong and particularly for weaned type. Milk calves saw slightly more resistance on the week.

Topping the sale at £740 was a 4 month old Charolais cross bull from R W Shaw & Sons, Red House, Kirkpatrick Fleming. Aberdeen Angus bulls sold sold to £710 for a 4 month old from T & J Airey, New Grange, Dearham. British Blues sold to £705 from R & J Byres, Whitehills, Brampton with others to £700 from JW & VI Naylor, Hill Green, Drigg. 3 month Limousin bulls sold to £690 from DJ Livingstone, Kirtlevale. Simmental bulls topped at £645 from N Boyd & Sons, Rockhall Head. 2 month British Blue Bulls sold to £630 from M G & S Harper, Westhouse Dearham. A pair of 1 month British Blue bulls sold to £480 from JW Baillie, Hillhead of Covington, Biggar. Holstein Bulls sold to £445 from J & B Morley, Hadderdale. Heifers topped at £670 for a pair of British Blues from C Scott & E Harryman, Low Farm, Wigton. J G Threlkeld, Beyond The Moss has a 1 month old British Blue at £625. JW & VI Naylor also sold British Blue heifers to £640. Aberdeen Angus heifers topped at £590 for a 4 month old from T & J Airey, New Grange, Deerham. Limousin Heifers topped at £530 from Rockhall Head.  

All classes of calves sold well over vendor expectations.
