Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 22nd January Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of Calves with a smaller offering of 224 forward.  Trade was off the clock and numbers were well short of buyer’s requirements seeing all classes even sharper on the week especially for young calves still on milk. The Sale averages speak for themselves.

Topping trade today was a British Blue x bull calf selling for £760 from MJL Simpson & Son, Waingate Head.  Wadsworth Farming consigned a great run of 10, 4 month old British Blue calves, topping at £720 and averaging £645.50.  Limousin bulls sold to £650 for a 3 month old from IT & EM Carlyle, Bleaberry Rigg.  T J Neill, Howtel topped the Angus bull calves selling to £635.  A run of British Blue calves from TW Martin, Tempest Tower sold to £565 for 2 month old.  1 month old Blue bulls topped at £520 from Bowe Dairy Farming, Dalston with other from the same home and age selling to £500 and £485.

Heifer calves sold to £755 for a British Blue from MJL Simpson & Son, Waingatehead.  Angus sold to £680 from T J Neill, Howtel.  Messrs Wilson of Woodside consigned a 3 month old British Blue heifer at £610 .  D & M Irving, Brunt Hill topped the Limousin heifers at £590 for three, 4 month olds with PJN & SM Morris, Greengatehouse selling to £580 for a 2 month old.  2 Month old Blue heifers sold to £555 from AW & I Osborne, Cow Lane with 1 month olds selling to £485 rom Bowe Dairy Farming, Dalston.  TA & ML Jackson, Guillyhill, sold two 1 month old Blue x heifers to £460

Black and whites sold to £580 from JB Sloan, Panlands.  A trio of 4 month old sold to £345 from A & J McCamley, Knockshiffnock.  A 2 month old from Messrs Wilson of Woodside sold to £310
