Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 19^th March Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of Calves.  A larger show of 500 calves met with a fierce trade topping at £900 twice.  Calves continue to rise weekly.

The sale topped £900 for an Angus bull from JB Sloan, Panlands.  He also sold an Angus to £810 and £735.  D & M Irving Farming, Brunt Hill sold a tremendous Limousin cross bull calf also to £900.  Messrs Reed, Mosside House sold a 3 month British Blue bull to £895.  They also sold another to £880.  Chalkside Farming sold to £860 for a British Blue.  A V Elwen, Netherfield sold a 3 month Blue to £860.  W P Callender, Crofthead had a tremendous run of calves, a pair of Angus sold to £840, with a Limousin to £830.  They also sold two Blues at £830.  Messrs Kincaid, Slacks Farm sold a fantastic 2 month Blue bull to £820 with another at £810.  J Bailey, Moorhouse sold a 1 month Blue bull to £780.

J B Sloan, Panlands also topped the heifers with an Angus at £770.  Messrs Reed, Moss Side sold a 3 month Blue heifer to £770.  W P Callander, Croft Head sold a pair of Blue heifers to £760.  Messrs Kincaid, Slacks sold a 3 month Blue heifer to £730.  A & J Campbell, Carsewalloch sold a Blue heifer to £710.  G & SE Fox, Windy Hill sold a Limousin heifer to £690.

Black and whites sold to £465 (x2) for Holsteins from Ling Dairies Ltd,  J B Sloan, Panlands sold a Holstein to £425.  P & AM Holliday, Dobcross sold a 2 month old Holstein to £355.  McNabney Bros sold a Holstein to £310.  Messrs Petruci, Outer Blair sold a one month old Friesian to £305
