Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 26^th March Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of Calves.  A record show of 613 continued to sell to extreme rates with vendors new and old leaving delighted.

The sale topped today at £900 for an Angus bull from W P Callander, Crofthead.  This tremendous consignment also sold a pair of 2 month old British Blues to £825 and a pair of Limousins to £820.  Messrs Messengers, The Howes sold five Blue bulls to £870.  Blencogo House Farms Ltd sold a Blue bull to £870.  T & J Airey, New Grange sold a pair of Angus to £860.  Bowe Dairy Farming Co Ltd sold two 2 month Blue bulls to £820.  R & S Dodd, Holmhead Farm, sold a blue bull calf to £810 at 2 months of age.   R Pigg & Son, Gaitsgill sold an Angus to £805.  Ellaway Ltd, Elephant Farm sold a Welsh Black to £790.

Heifers topped at £820 for a fantastic 3 month old Charolais heifer from T & J Airey, New Grange.  WP Callander & Co Crofthead sold 3 blue heifers to £790.  W Messenger, The Howes sold a pair of Blues to £765.  T & J Airey, New Grange also sold 3 Angus heifers to £740.  JR Lyall, North Scales sold a 2 month Blue heifer to £680.  Blencogo House Farms Ltd sold a 1 month Blue heifer to £630.  TA & ML Jackson, Guillyhill sold a 1 month IMRA 95 heifer to £550.

Black and Whites sold to £670 for a Holstein from W Messenger, The Howes.  Messrs Vance, Portyerrock sold a Fleckvieh to £510.  Ellaway Ltd, Elephant Farm sold a pair of Holstein to £445.  They also sold a pair to £435.
