WEDNESDAY 9th APRIL 2025
On Wednesday 9th April Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves. A large show continued with 418 forward.
Wadsworth Farming Ltd, Newton Stewart had a tremendous run of calves topping the sale at £990, also selling to £980 and £970 for British Blue bulls and to £960, £940, £930 and £900 for Limousins. This consignment averaged £901 for 10 forward. JR Lyall, North Scales sold a 3 month British Blue bull for £890. R & S McKie, Stoneybrook also matched this. R & M Harvey, Nether Keir sold a British Blue bull to £880. C Horsley Ltd, sold a 2 month old Limousin bull to £855, also topping the Aberdeen Angus section at £850 for a 2 month old. Hereford bulls sold to £800 for a 2 month old from C Horsley Ltd.
Heifers topped at £780 for a British Blue heifer from CW Gott, Burton House. Aberdeen Angus heifers also sold to £780 from KM & KM Mawson. PJN Morris, Greengatehouse sold Limousin heifers sold to £760 for a 3 month old. C Horsley Ltd, Wigton sold a pair of Aberdeen Angus heifers at 2 month old to £730. One month old British Blue heifers sold to £490 from Low Wood Dairy. M Stephenson, Winter Tarn also sold to this price for 2 British Blue heifers.
Black and Whites sold to £520 for a 3 month old from W & D Threlkeld, Lockerbie. Four Holstiens sold to £480 from A & A Paul & Son, Greigsland.
