Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 16^th April Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves.  Good numbers continued with 430 forward.  A large entry of milk calves stole the show selling to extreme rates.

The sale topped at £950 from W W Reed, Croft House for a Limousin bull.  This was also matched by J & R Ramsey, Lodge of Kelton, Castle Douglas for three Angus bulls.  T W Martin, Tempest Tower sold a 3 month old British Blue bull to £940.  Thackwood Farms also sold to £935 and £930.  J Bailey, Moorhouse Hall, Wigton sold a tremendous 1 month old Blue to £880.  They also sold another at £800.

Heifers topped at £850 for a blue from RG & MJT Farish, East Farm, Wigton.  This was also matched by Thackwood Farms.  J & R Ramsey, Lodge of Kelton sold an Angus heifer to £820.  G & SE Fox, Windy Hill sold Limousin heifers to £800.  RG & MT Farish sold a 1 month old blue heifer to £710.  IT & EM Carlyle sold a 2 month Limousin to £710.

Black and whites sold to £625 from A & J McCamley, Knockshiffnock, Cumnock. Norwegians Reds sold to £540 from How End Farms, Thursby.  Messrs McCamley also sold 3 at £470.  Dairy shorthorns sold to £430 for three from G Baynes & Sons, Hexham
