Borderway Calf Sale

On Wednesday 23rd April Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of calves with another large show of 450 forward.   Records were broken with three calves breaking the thousand pound mark.

Topping today was a British Blue bull calf from first time consignor, B & H Johnstone Ltd, Castle Douglas selling to £1050.  Another to sell over £1000 was from JW & VI Naylor, Hill Green with a Blue Bull at £1040.  They also sold others at £1000 and £950.

Messrs Carlisle, Fowrass sold a 3 month old Blue bull to £940.  TR & J Airey, New Grange, Maryport topped the Angus section with a bull calf at £920.  MC & A Elliott, Dalston sold a 2 month Blue bull to £860.  A & A Paul & Son, Lockerbie sold a 2 month Blue to £830.  RJ & DL Cathers , Stannock, Newton Stewart sold a 1 month Blue to £720.

Heifers sold to £890 from JW & NI Naylor, Hill Green for a Blue heifer and B & H Johnstone Ltd, Castle Douglas.  W A Ferrie, Newcastleton sold a Blue heifer to £865.  B & H Johnstone sold the top price Limousin at £825.  Angus heifers sold to £770 from Messrs Holliday, High Bow, Carlisle.  Herefords sold to £670 from W A Ferrie.

Black & Whites sold to £660 from JW & VI Naylor, Hill Green.  A & A Paul & Son sold 3 to £550.  I & GM Blamire, Mid Whinnow sold a 3 month Friesian to £520.  Montbelairdes sold to £490 from JS & IM Wilson, Millom
